[ idealhome ] The dream of every juice expert

We tried the Kuvings REVO830 Cold Press Juicer – every juice expert’s dream.

The REVO830 Cold Press Juicer is a great investment, but it's also the only juicing appliance you'll ever need—and so much more!

Looking for a way to maintain your health boost from the beginning of the year throughout the rest of the year? Maintaining your nutrient levels can be a daunting task, especially during these dark winter months. One way to keep your motivation and your consumption of all things green alive is to invest in a high-quality juicer, namely the Kuvings REVO830 Cold Press Juicer.

While this top-of-the-line juicer has a price tag higher than other mid-range machines, it's an all-around superstar when it comes to juicing (and even smoothies and sorbets). As one of the best juicers, it boasts a fantastically high juice yield, intelligent automatic cutting technology that reduces prep time, and an exceptionally powerful motor.

Who has tested this juicer?

The Kuvings REVO830 Slow Juicer was kindly provided to her by UK Juicers so she could test it at home for several months before writing this review, and it has rediscovered her love for green juices.

First impressions

I have to admit, this juicer intimidated me a little out of the box. It's quite large and looks quite complicated. Luckily, the included hardware is an absolute gift when it comes to setup and use—I'm still consulting the manual months later for ingredient tips. There's an entire page dedicated to what not to put in this juicer, which is a blessing for me when I'm afraid of breaking something.

The recipe book is also fantastic. It's packed with ideas for healthy juices, how to make baby food and nut drinks, and even cocktail recipes, which I browsed through most often. With the sorbet strainer, you can also make frozen desserts with this juicer, which is a lot of fun.

As for the controls, there's a button on the side that toggles between on, off, and reverse, so it's not complicated if you're completely new to juicing. The two feed chutes are very convenient.

The larger one is large enough to fit an apple or similarly sized fruit, and the smaller one is the perfect length to throw in carrots or celery.

Making apple juice

I started by juicing four apples because I wanted to see if a whole apple would actually fit into the larger feed tube shown on the front of the juicer. The Gala apples I picked up fit easily into the feed tube, meaning if you wanted to buy a larger variety, that would probably fit just fine too. So, making apple juice requires literally nothing to prepare—a dream for a quick morning drink.

To activate the Flipgate mechanism, simply clip it on top and place the apple on the holder. The weight of the apple pushes it down through the feed chute into the grinder of the press screw. It's fun,

Watch the apple being crushed and the juice flowing almost instantly into the juice outlet tube that exits the juicer. At the end of the spout is the clever "Smart Cap," which you can leave on to make blended juice or to avoid drips when rinsing your containers.

The juicer works very quickly, and in just a few minutes (or maybe even less), the juice was ready in the waiting container. Foaming was minimal, and aside from the initial cracking of the apples, I found this juicer to be relatively quiet. The apple juice tasted delicious, and I also used it for smoothies later in the day, making it versatile for making fresh apple juice.

I measured the juice yield of the apples I used to get a sense of how much juice could be extracted from the raw materials and found that 71% of the apples were processed into juice, which impressed me greatly. Since there's no preparation required and the results are very good, I now make apple juice frequently, especially when I need something to blend into smoothies.

Making green juice

The included manual contains a wealth of information about the benefits of vegetable juices, and each recipe includes a key that tells you how bitter or sweet the particular combination is and how long it should take to prepare. These little details go a long way toward making juicing more enjoyable.

The green juice I made consisted of spinach, one carrot, one lime, one apple, and two celery stalks. This juice required the most preparation, because putting citrus fruits into the main juicer requires peeling the rind. This doesn't take much time.

The carrots and celery can simply be placed in the thinner tray without any further preparation. However, the recipe booklet recommends soaking the carrots in cold water first for best results.

The first time I tried this juice, I forgot to keep the smart cap closed, but it did provide a good visual of how the juicer cleanly separates the pulp and juice through the two spouts. I tried it again, and this time I remembered to keep the smart cap closed so the juice could mix well inside the machine and the flavors could blend better.

As with the apple juice, the Kuvings REVO830 Cold Press Juicer is a fast-acting machine, and before I knew it, I had a green juice ready to be thrown away. The dual-chute system means that with careful selection, you'll rarely have the problem of ingredients clumping together before they reach the blender. There's also a tamper that fits into the longer chute, which I used to get the last bits of spinach into the auger.

The end result was a delicious green juice with a lovely citrus flavor, and since there's hardly any prep required, this juicer has definitely helped me drink these drinks more often. If the recipe book is anything to go by, it means I'm incorporating many more nutrients into my diet than before, and it all tastes delicious, too.

cleaning

One of the things that impressed me most about the Kuvings juicer was how easy the cleaning process is. After every juice, you'll inevitably find some clogged pulp in the main juicer strainer. In addition to a very handy little brush for removing excess pulp, this juicer also comes with an all-around strainer brush that's shaped like the strainer but larger.

Simply attach the larger strainer, twist it around the strainer, and watch the residue come out cleanly. While other juicers, like the Ninja Cold Press Juicer, can be a bit of a hassle to clean, the Kuvings has these special tools to make your life a little easier.

The only downside is that this juicer and its parts aren't dishwasher safe. Since I don't own a dishwasher, this wasn't an issue for me, and I find the included tools significantly reduce cleanup time.

Comparison

In terms of quality, the Kuvings feels largely unbeatable, with a high juice yield, excellent quality materials, tremendous power, and minimal prep for most of the ingredients I used. However, if you're shopping on a tight budget, you might be looking for a comparable, less expensive alternative to the Kuvings REVO830. The Kuvings B8200, which is around €240 cheaper, offers the solution.

Should you buy the Kuvings REVO830 Cold Press Juicer?

If you're new to juicing and unsure whether you want to make it a habit, consider the price. A juicer like the Kuvings B8200 might be a good starting point to get a feel for whether investing in a juicer is worth it.

If you've outgrown your entry-level juicer, or if you already have one, I can't think of a better choice than the Kuvings REVO830 Cold Press Juicer. Thanks to the powerful

Thanks to the auger system, minimal preparation is required to make your daily juice, and cleaning is hassle-free if you use the device frequently. You can be sure that, thanks to the quality of the materials, you'll have this product in your home for many years. There's no denying that this is a serious financial investment, but if you're a juicing professional or aspire to be one, you'll soon be putting this very powerful device to good use.

We tested this juicer for over two months to find out how easy it is to use, how well it juices, and whether it's an investment you'll continue to use in the months following your purchase.
